A big iphone style device would suffice, which allows browsing without scrolling and a readable standard resolution pdf A4 page still readable at the display resolution.
The size of a filofax, or for the non-yuppies amongst us, the size of a VHS tape.

My "new" 12" PowerBook is very tiring to read by the end of an evening (and the former owner only used it for watching DVDs in bed, for the same reason).
That's using it as a normal laptop of course. I've plugged in an external monitor to solve that. | |

Close but no cigar. The OS is WiNdows7, it has no 3G and the styling is not very sexy.
It is one of those " I would sleep with Betty, but be thinking of Wilma" kinda deals if I bought one, as Apple will soon launch their iTab or whatever they will call it.
"As capable as the 9PCtablet may be, it does have its drawbacks. The display, for example, uses resistive technology, not capacitive. As such, it needs to be calibrated for touch accuracy, and is incapable of multi-touch tricks"
I will take a closer look at it anyhow and report back....

It comes with magnets so you can stick it on your fridge door.
Do watch the videos, also those at their Wiki where the user manual is available. The videos are presented with a wonderful French accent. Dimensions
I think I want one myself

Geek stuff alert!
Go here and scroll to the bottom. Under the heading Always Innovating OS you'll see 6 links to technical details. It's Openembedded Linux. I note that the AbiWord word processor is included - it's a couple of years since I looked at it but seem to remember that it was quite nifty on the multilingual front.

It looks nicely hackable then, they have Xfce and Gnome in the package list but I'd guess Xfce would be default.
I also notice that they have a separate browser for touch screen usage, that leads me to believe that touch is not well integrated.

New reason to worry about your iPhone, apparently it's a cinch for an app to grab the iPhones telephone number and have it used by an unscrupulous marketeer. El Reg |
