Put a load of chicken feed made-up information on there: like you have recently struck gold on your Limerick smallholding but things have to be kept quiet at this stage.

Has anyone developed automated Facebook respondents, in a similar fashion to ELIZA, to give the illusion of a real person ?
That would be a good student project...

How about an app that finds a face image in the net, and puts together many photographs of that same person and tries to generate a complete persona ?

Another reason why FB is a foe: While in the past, you were usually blissfully unaware of mutual friends, achievements, exact looks, sense of humour etc. of the person you have been replaced with, FB now allows you to add an extra edge to the wallowing in self-pity after being dumped for someone else. Instead of getting off your behind and focussing on other things, hitherto unknown stalker tendencies rear their ugly head. Not the best.

Even subtracting 25% self- PR coolness, it's depressing. At least on the achievement and personality match level. Looks, not so much... *meow*

Here is why Facebook are holding onto your data. It is obvious really (my bold):
Facebook's Michael Richter said if a user chose to deactivate their account, the site would still store their information "even if it is for 10 years".
" We're committing to that user," he said. "We want them to know that if they change their mind they can always come back."
