Default second hand snowboard gear

Can anyone recommend a place to buy good quality second hand snowboard gear? I want to try snowboarding, but I'm a bit reluctant to shell out nearly 1000chf for the new stuff. Any suggestions?

Cheers,
HK

Well the Viz style Top Tip would be to get an old skate board, knock the wheels off it, get some strong velcro tapes and hey presto, you're ready to go!

On a more serious note, try rental from these guys: skirental-zueri Home

(Hopefully they have snowboard stuff)

Thanks for the top tip... I liked the one that suggested City Gents could simulate the thrill of Ski Jumping by simply tucking the umbreller under the arm and leaning forward whilst going down Escalators.

On a more serious note. Well actually not that serious... I did hire for one day. It cost 70Chf per day. I'd rather invest 300-400 hundred Chf and have something, than pay dead rental money.

Cheers,
HK

CHF 70 a day? That's insane, I wouldn't bother at those prices mate. You could try ricardo maybe

Hi
I got an old snowboard (functions well) and I will sell it to you for 100chf, if interested. (at this price, dont think I need to go to cellar to find brand and model).
It's got working bindings. It should last you at least 5 to 10 trips before rewaxing.

I've got also a pair of (what's that brand)....Burton, shoes. New in 2004, used only 2 trips. Will also let go for 100chf. (I dunno the exact size, but I usually wear size 43 for business shoes).

PM me if interested.

If you rent for a day it can cost you silly money (although not usually as silly as 70 unless you rent directly in a resort). However, shop around and rent for a season and you should be able to find a board and binding for 250 or so. And that will be a lot better quality than anything you can find second hand for the same money. Plus if you buy second hand you are going to have to get the board serviced which will cost another ~50.

Plus boards don't last forever. My oldest usually manages to get through one per season (which is why he only rents these days). Admittedly his style is fairly extreme....

You can also choose to rent for the season, which is a lot cheaper than renting per day. Should you find you like the sport, and the gear, you can purchase it all at the end of the season for a discount.
