This has been a regular event published on facebook and another forum of English speakers of all nationalities, including Swiss.... we meet at the market where I work every Thursday evening from 6 (although most turn up from 7 or so) for a chat at the British Cheese Centre stall where I have chilled bottles of British ale and toasted Bagels.

At 8 we move on to the market bar for something like an English pub night, meaning you can talk about anything (including drivel) with who ever you like.

Come on your own, come with work colleagues or your misses or girlfriend (or both, but you might want to warn us first). Don't be shy, say hello to Mike the Cheese (me) and I'll introduce you to some like minded folk.

The market is at Limmatstrasse 231, 8005 Zurich. Trams 4 and 13 stop outside at Dammweg. I've put an end time of 11.30 but usually we finish at 10 or so with some folk heading off elsewhere. I've also made this a recurring event, I don't know if the RSVP's are re-set after each evening... I guess we'll see!

just to point out that there is a regular crowd and it's always nice to welcome new people to it.

I'm good at talking drivel but meeting someone like-minded sounds dangerous.....

I've converted many locals, and the French, Italians, Dutch etc etc to the delights of British curds... you're next.

I was talking to a Swiss friend about the British Cheese Centre the other day. He mentioned that he liked a couple of English cheeses: Stilton and that red one with the wax coating. (He was referring to Edam, not Godminster )

I'll be down this evening - once I have exercised for a bit.

Last Thursday was one of the busiest evenings with about 25 .... notsure what we should call ourselves....

Thus coming Thursday looks like it will be very busy as it coincides with my birthday, and quite a nasty one to boot.

We are looking at applying for a license to actually serve alcohol (rather than just sell it in bottles) and if successful we will be sharing the drinking space at the front of the market with the Champagne and Oyster bar. They are very keen to also have "Port and Blue cheese" plates and "Bagels and Beer"

And we will be allowed to serve there until 10pm Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. Fingers crossed please
