Default Car Total km Verification

I am looking for a car with low km, but doesn't have to be younger than 3 years as I will soon rack up the km. I have seen some cars that seem to have implausibly low km. Is there any way I can get this confirmed or guaranteed ? How widespread is falsification these days ?

Is it possible to check the sevice history. I know our book has the kilometres noted at each service.

The sellers usually have disclaimers. An executive car four-years old with 26k km ? Not impossible, but unlikely. I am like to do lots of km, so it makes sense to yet a low-km older vehicle and bring it up to average km/yr for its age.

maybe you are judging it by Brit standards BigD. People here use the train for both the commute and weekend family activities.

Yeah , probably. It is exacerbated (what does that mean?) by the fact that cars older than three years don't appear on the forecourts of "quality" car dealers, which means caution is adviseable in any case... even more of a worry is that if it has doen more km, then the servicing has not been done (or reported at least) either....

PS: I have seen a lot of Subarus on the road as I have been looking and am unable to find a nice looking one. Since NotSalsaLover mentioned Skodas, I have noticed many of them, usually Fabias. My colleague here has just bought a second new one for his girlfriend, and it wasn't on a buy-one-get-one-free deal.

The new Forrester is better looking than your current motor imo but i agree Subaru are generally below par looks wise.

I will buy the missus a Fabia if we ever have a bad arguement.

Obviously I don't agree, but confess I was looking at the Forester and try as I might, couldn't fall in love with it, much as I wanted to.

It has no soul, that's why, no Subaru does. They are good functionally and some look good but even those that do are still a 5 to 2 bird in a nice dress.

One thing about Subaru (since they seem to dominate our car discussions, not my fault guv) is that consumable parts are expensive. I paid over 600chf for new front pads and discs on mine and the majority of that was the brake pad cost weighing in over 300chf!
