Default Zurich, Geneva, Basel Bern , Lugano or other ?

Assuming that you choice was not dictated either by your employer or your partner, in which city, town or area would you choose to live, and why ?

Bring it on !

lausanne...always loved it, something about the tram that goes down to the lake. the lake looking over to evian.
i always preferred the suisse romande...
and the swiss french culture, food etc.
(also like laax for personal memories...)

Somewhere more at foot of the mountains, central Switzerland, probably Lucerne as it also has the lakes. Maybe Chur. That's without getting into villages and small towns

All in all, central Zurich is hard to beat as a combination of city comforts and ease of escape to more recreational areas.

Probably still stick with Luzern, the permanent job offer was always an added bonus. If it had been anywhere else, I probably would not have taken it.

EDIT: Oops, missed the why.

Great people, fantastic views, doorstep of the alps.

I'd go down to the Italian part, when we drove to Venice in the Summer it became obvious by the style of driving that they were a lot more laid back than the germans. In addition to that, I can actually speak some italian so I wouldn't be the woman with the yellow dictionary any more.
