tarantino-inglorious besterds

brilliant! i loved the dialogues very, very much!
pitt acted fantastic. his tennessee-accent was incredibly funny
to watch and most of all to listen to. this time i found the soundtrack
not that very special apart from david bowie song at the credits.
should have told him when i saw quentin in my hotel in loondon 4weeks ago...

I went to watch my first movie in Belgium last week, It was Inglorious Basterds as I like Tarintino movies. Made the schoolboy mistake of thinking that even though it was showing Original Version, some of the scenes of the film was in french so they french-subtitles remained on the screen!

I still got the jist, just maybe missed a couple of pointers, still thought it was excellent, recommend a visit to the cinema

So you had French subtitles in place of the English ones you'd normally get at that point of the film?

That sounds a bit unusual; many films on telly here drop the subtitles altogether for the bits in the native language. Alternatively when watching the English version of a film on a German language channel, that bit of French/Japanese/whatever will get German subtitles. Rinse wash and repeat for the French and Italian channels here.

P.S. Avoid going to the cinema to watch comedies in Belgium or Holland. The rest of the audience will get the verbal jokes from the subtitles, with the result that witty remarks and punch lines are drowned out with audience laughter.

The best actors in this movie were without doubt the Germans, all of them were close to brilliant, excepting possibly Till, although he had the bad boy moves better on than in Arthur. The scene in the cellar was a masterpiece of cinematography and made the film. Diehl was excellent but Waltz was simply perfect.
