Living costs: Petrol and diesel prices are down...

Did anyone notice that the petrol prices and diesel are down this week?
Today, the diesel price went to 1,99chf per litre, below the 2chf mark.

Another report on news channels, say the crude oil price went below US$72 today. And the OPEC people are scrambling to meetings and emergency measures.
Isn't it good that the prices go down?
Say 1 year ago, it was rising beyond US$70 or 80 and they are holding also emergency talks, etc.

So, what is a perfect price for oil?

Yes I did notice but couldn't verify it!

I said to the missus I thought petrol had been above 1.80 and closer to 2chf a l before but couldn't verify it. I don't know why but I'm impressed they adjust the prices so quickly.

I use a lot of petrol (unleaded 95) and the price of this at the pump in kt Zurich and Thurgau has fluctuated between about 178 and 202c per litre in the past 8 months. It is currently about 179.5.

In southern Germany it currently costs about 1.34EUR/l (about 212c) or 18% more than in Switzerland.

It is to be applauded that the Swiss do pass down the price to consumers. Yesterday I drove past the COOP garage in Steinhausen and thought to myself I must fill the car. By the time we drove back the other way, it had gone down another 2 rappen a litre. Unreal that in the space of about an hour I could, by filling the car with about 100 litres save about 2chf, which isn't a lot in the scheme of things but do that three times and I've got a packet of fags.

I saw some Unleaded 95 in near Dietlikon at 167.5chf/l this morning. I am sure it was that price a couple of years ago. It's a small amount in absolute terms, but if you cover a lot of km or have a thirty car, the amount is significant.
