Newborn found on train

A week-old baby girl has been discovered on an intercity train in Basel. All attempts to locate the mother have proved fruitless.

Give me more please...

That is really sad. I wonder what the full story will be, will the mother be found, will the baby have been kidnapped, abonndoned. So many possibilites

I wonder if the mother didn't know of the baby-window in Einsiedeln? Or maybe she was on her way there and didn't make it for some reason.

Whatever her reason (if the baby was indeed abandoned by her mother), at least the mother left the baby in a location where she'd be found/ noticed and officials could react.
She must have been desperate to go to that extent.
Perhaps she didn't know about the various baby windows around.
