I was an expatforum.com user working in NZ for the last 3 years, life was sweet and easy. I land a nice job here, spend a bit of time on the usual settling-in and start to look at what's out there online in Switzerland to find a minefield. Why are there so many forums and groups and clubs to enroll, subscribe and sign-up to here? I thought Switzerland was organised? It's confusing as hell to know where to turn....I chose here to make my first post because it seems like it's new and fresh, I'm not sure I could cope with having umpteen identities on numerous forums....what's an expat to do?

A few months ago.

Swiss do not run forums...the foreigners do.

The swiss go out for walks, hikes, biking, swimming and so on...

We foreigners stay at home, comparing computer configs, lawn growth plans, setting up satellites and finding out where to dump rubbish without paying much for it.

Welcome to our forum. This one should be less of a restricted forum where active friendly sarcasm at one another is tolerated and not blown up to restrictive bans and name-calling (in the forum or in private emails).

Hi wickywacky and first of all a big welcome to you.
Perhaps the reason for the minefield of forums is that living in Switzerland can be a bit of a minefield at times, with its levels of organisations and rules.
We 'savouries' help each other out through the occasional minefield but are more about having a chat, a laugh and the odd drink/dinner/event together.
Hope we can be of service to you, or at least buy you a beer or other beverage of choice at the next event.
