Wow, Gee ..... Nice to have a big welcome like that! Thank you.
Ha ha ha .... I have to laugh, cause I recognise some of the old crowd from another forum - they who kakked (SA phrase meaning "were cheeky" ) on me when I muddled around dithering with my first posting there ... ha ha haaaa cough cough ha ha haa!
My favourite most used phrase in German is "Sprechen langsaam bitte".
I only began formal german lessons late last year, cause I found that our local Gemeinder subsidise lessons for our area (Unterland). The Migros and other courses put me off cause they are SO expensive, & meant a long travel. This course costs work out at Sfr5 per lecture - two lectures of one hour each per day - two days a week. Its part of their Integration plan, and officially recognised. (and I`ve had compliments on my new-found german speaking/understanding!)

Ok taking the plunge. I just moved to Zug from Atlanta, GA, USA last month. I'm still settling in, but the whole garbage and recycling thing is confusing me. Other than that, I am loving seeing the Alps when walking to the grocery store! I also love the snow which is not something that you get much in the deep south.

| | New to Basel..nearly
Hi there,
I'm looking to move out to Basel next year and am in desperate need of securing a job before I come. My husband is already working out there but for it to be us to be financially ok, I need to find a job. I'm looking for something in teaching, childcare or perhaps jobs in English speaking libraries?
Any ideas?

Hello everyone, I have just found this Forum and I am looking forward to a happy virtual life, as a fresh hard cheese.
Want some more? I am very old, I left Dover on 19 th March 19 1977, and they have now stopped looking for me, I managed a lovely holiday in Dorset this July and got back again without any hassle. I have lived for more than two years in UK, Malaysia, Munich, Bern, and the Romandie. I have 4 children and 5 grand children. My son is living with me, he joined a shared flat with four doctors, but moved back as they weren't clean enough, and yes he is very fussy! He gets that from his mother, as generally I am an easy going type.
