As honest as I can be, I have never counted my shoes. But, Mr Lucy has made an estimation based on size, volume and area, and he got to a figure around 80. Mind you, I very very very very rarely throw shoes away. About half of them are retired shoes, including sneakers and ballerinas. The oldest pair I have was bought in 1994 (!).

A person can be as obsessed with shoes (I am not), the same way she can be obsessed with art, stamps, barbie dolls and match stick monuments... For a number of reasons, I had to put to rest my collecting habit (not shoes, really), and I feel it like a huge loss in my life. I suffer when I got to an Art Fair or a gallery and have to turn my back on some pieces.

Just to shed some light on women's obsession (love) with shoes.

My friend had a gf, who would start crying everytime they would have an argument or something and he would tell me like "My gf is so cute and sensitive etc etc. I have to be so careful not to hurt her feelings etc etc. She is totally in love with me etc etc."

One day the gf could not find the other pair of her shoe, and she started crying, like in tears on the floor. In the first instance my friend started to look for the shoe but then he just turned around and said to her "So basically I am as important to you as your shoe?"

In no time the waterworks turned into fireworks!
