I have tried disabling all add-ons but I am still encountering the same problems, namely an interrupted connection or occasionally an error 413 "Request Entity too large". I am using the latest version of Firefox, which is otherwise fully functional.

I might add that I did not have these issues until roughly a month ago.

Ok that's interesting, many thanks, I think I know where to look now although I don't know why Firefox would be the only client affected. Do you have a direct connection to the internet?

I might need a week or so to look into it if that's ok.

I am connected through a router at home and directly at work. The fact that the problems occur on both the Mac and the Windows version of Firefox (which have a similar set of add-ons installed) leads me to think that my setup has developed a personal dislike for cheese or the shooting thereof. The errors are much less frequent on Windows, however, and generally only occur when I try to post, not during simple browsing.

Again, this is not an important matter and certainly does not warrant your spending a great deal of time to attempt to solve this problem. I accept to submit my browsing data to google analytics -albeit reluctantly- if that means I can learn more about Swiss tights and paired speed cameras.

I need to look into it, the last change was on the 10th Jan and I did make changes to the web server so it is quite possible that this introduced the problem and I'll want to fix it. I can't find any 413 errors in the logs though but will keep looking.

I think Cyrus' problem might be with his work proxy though.

I won't be evasive on the Google Analytics comment, it's certainly not something we hide. Any data captured is anonymous and not attached to the forum software so it's not possible to link accounts to any of the stats. There are other ways of capturing usage information through vB but this is undesirable for us because it has a performance impact and undesirable for you because it tracks you through the site. I certainly wouldn't want somebody knowing the amount of time I spent looking at the pictures of tight clad legs DGM posted up. If you have any concerns I'm happy to openly dicsuss them.

Google-analytics can be blocked, unlike server-side statistic gathering software so I am grateful that you have opted for this solution.

The error 413 does not appear very often. Most of the time I get a "Connection Interrupted. The document contains no data. The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection.", especially when I try to open a thread.

OK I'll check it out, I can think of a few potential places this could be causing a problem so I'll stick my head in some logs, secondary of course to consuming beer.

Testing, testing 123. Everything seemed to be working for a while. The New Posts and Search options are very slow for me today.

Blahdi blah blah, blah blah, blah. Blahdi blah blah, blah blah, blah. Blahdi blah blah, blah blah, blah. Blahdi blah blah, blah blah, blah. Blahdi blah blah, blah blah, blah. Blahdi blah blah, blah blah, blah. Blahdi blah blah, blah blah, blah. Blahdi blah blah, blah blah, blah.

That should do it.

It obviously works, but it takes a long time. Funnily enough, it seems to take more time than when I used to get the failed post and timeout message before, though I've got no way of confirming that.

thanks for your help. It's clearly a bug with how the webserver behaves with some proxy servers. For example "new posts" doesn't work at all for me today from work but works fine everywhere else.

I'll roll back to our last version and file a bug report tonight.

Damn it, something weird is happening again, this time it's "no resonse from server" when I try to post. Let's see if a short post sill works.
