Change the colour scheme! We don't need the background textures, we don't need the 3d effect borders. I say keep the design a lot cleaner. This site is brand new but already looks like it was part of compuserve in 1998.

I've made 2 posts today and whilst both of them are intended to be helpful and positive they both just sound like whining. Am I perhaps on the wrong forum?

Thanks for the input, colour schemes etc are a very personal thing, I agree, but we kinda like the new look....and didn't you hear that 2009 is the new 1998....

It's an experiment with an automated news feed, which appears as threads. It allows users to comment on the specific news story without having to identify and link it themselves. As you are a guy with some interesting views on the world, give it a try

If you guys don't find it useful, then of course we will modify it. How do you like your news ?

Don't apologise, keep them coming, I'd rather people aired any opinions or complaints early days since it will only be positive, only help to improve things.

I like the colour scheme, makes a change from blue. I am in a happy content mood after passing MFK so even if you had something jumping out of the screen at me I wouldn't care.

Automated? That means it is feeding off some newsfeed, not a good idea, cos it will generate a lot of junk. (I still think most of the news are crap or not interesting to me at least)

Also, this list inherits what the news-stream (journalists and their bosses) want us to read, and not we choose to read what interests us.

Next, the threads contains only links out. This means the reader leaves our forum site. (This is generally not a good internet site practice to navigate the users out of, we normally try to channel them INTO our site and not vice versa)

As I said, the category or section is good, but the automated threads should have a rethink.

Anyway, who needs news....we've already got gossip about neighbours, flame wars about usernames and jokes about swiss and indians...
