Again, I'll have to disagree with you Peachy, if it is the same steering wheel that our girl had it was fabulous. We brought it in ELC in Oman. She spotted it and loved it. Her only regret was it didnt make the same noise as the one on the Simpsons (our guilty pleasure at 14.00 every day).
I'd agree with the rest of your post though. We only got her 'nice' toys, ie non noisy, non flashing and no batteries required. It was other people who filled her room with that sort of tat. Tragically we could never get the same sized batteries when the originals ran out. Another top tip is to accidently drop whatever you don't like in the bath, although depending on how sturdy it is, several dunkings may be necessary.

It is the standard joke that an estranged parent buys their darling a drum-set for their birthday.

to me its soulless to have it all digital as i like the feel of paper in my hand, i like to look at the cover, flip through the pages when choosing one at e.g. orell fuessli. and besides the cd rack...the first thing i like to check out in other peoples places is the books they have on their shelves...

So do I, but I am talking about large technical documents, and net browsing and general self education. For reading for pleasure, paper wins every time: especially as work involves computers.

One of my big use cases is an A4 display that can display sheet music to carry around a complete (printed) music library on one device that can fit in my guitar case.

You really know where to put the knife in, don't you .... Does Mr. L wear chain mail when he's at home?

Do you know, it's not the first time I've been accused of that, sorry. Does Mr L wear chain mail? Only on special occasions
