Default Local beers, that don't suck.

Had a Oberländerbräu Amber beer this evening at the Rote Haus bar in Zurich, and was very impressed. Cant say the same for the website though Gasthausbrauerei Bubikon :: Willkommen

Don't have any microbreweries near here (at least none I'm aware of) unfortunately. Appenzeller Quöllfrish Naturtrüb is not bad and what I usually seek out.

I'm a fan of the Ustermer Schlossbrau available from Landi Uster, i'd guess other Landi stores might be a good starting place for a local beer.

Personally I can't drink cider but there is a whole host of local ciders available. Since I don't like it I can't provide you with any links only suggest you check out farmer cafes/shops as I'm sure they'll have a whole array of them.

Maisgold and Dinkelbier, both produced in Einsiedeln, are an excellent tipple. There is also a wholesaler not far from the railway station where you can stock up with crates of the stuff.

I have found with most of these Swiss beers, however, if you drink them straight from the fridge they aren't as good. Our cellar is around 9-12C in Winter which seems to be a better temperature to drink them.

Rappie Bier Factory & Spiffing Ales are both fantastic. There is also a decent small brewery in Wadenswil which I haven't found yet and one in Baar that I need to visit. I also heard of one run by a German guy near Winterthur - don't have the links to hand I'm afraid
