it's great if you use a rich beer, it produces a really moist chicken.

You fill the bowl bit with beer, put the spike on, put the spike up the chicken's bottom then the plug in the neck cavity. Yummy

Oh yes .... the Beer-Can-Chicken is REALY GOOD!

You use a tall beer can type, pop the lid, inset up chicken - Chicken hangs there looking almost humanoid - fill the nick with sprigs of Rosemary, and bake in closed oven standing in a pan to catch the drips. (We use our Kacheloffen wood fire, but I`m guessing the closed Weber thing is almost as good?)....... The chicken is simply divine - all plump and tasty! And you get to cut off chunks of whatever you fancy as all is displayed in the draped carcass!

The problem with the Weber kettle BBQ is it isn't really tall enough to accommodate a full sized chicken on end, I think you'd have to take the top grill out and cook it on the coal grill but then it might be too close to the heat source. I am considering a Smokenator 1000 but then I don't think you'd really see the benefits of beer can chicken with the reduced heat.
