Default Restaurant or Bar Wine Recommendations

As I am obviously a civilized gentleman of leisure, I tend to quaff wine when the mood is one of refinement rather than cocktailean-buzz or beer-bust. I sampled a rather good Portuguese Sav Blanc in Nooba at Kreuzplatz (43chf) last night but given the variability of wine in restaurants, I'd appreciate any recommendations you may have...?

Thumbs up Re: Restaurant or Bar Wine Recommendations

Last night, Swissflygirl, the Teen and I had a very enjoyable meal at "Connexion" in Zollikerberg. The service was excellent, the food good and well, the company what can I say? Charming.

The owner is English(!), very personable and helpful with selections. He even offered to make me a proper Thanksgiving dinner next year.

I will be going back.

Restaurant Connexion

(Thank you Dingbat for pointing us in the right direction)

Just wanted to second this... the customer service from Alexander the manager/owner was second to none. He'd also spent quite some time working overseas including the US....his style of customer service showed that... There were quite a few fellow expats dining there too.

The menu was not extensive but very good and varied. Predominantly Italian influences with some excellent pasta and pizza options.

Can definitely recommend !!

SFG and I went to QN last night in Effretikon and had a great evening. The decor is perfect and the food was good*. There is also a bar and a lounge to relax in big leather arm chairs and enjoy a cigar. Reserving is a good idea.

I'll let SFG describe her first impressions from the outside.

QN-World - Willkommen

*Thx!

That's actually not very far from where I live. I'm starting to think that there are plenty of good places in Switzerland it's just that we (expats) don't know about them. Sure I know the good pubs to go in the UK because I lived there for decades, I shouldn't expect to have the same amount of knowledge of somewhere I have lived for less than 5.

EDIT: In fact looking at more pictures I think I could quite happily live there, it seems to have everything.

There's a coincidence. Bearing in mind its location , I was seriously looking for apartments in the building...

They have a cigar list that runs to seven pages which is not badly priced. i think a Cohiba Esplendido is called for in honour of the occasion.

That would be the ultimate place to have an apartment!

The wine list confuses me, is it by bottle?
