Not keen on mulligatawny but do like minestrone. Fry and onion in some olive oil with a clove of garlic (don't let them go brown) throw onto it a tin of tomatoes and cook them down to a sludge. Open a bag of minestrone vegetables that have been frozen after being cut into pieces, pour the veg into the sludge, add some water and small pasta pieces (shapes or broken spaghetti) and serve with parmesan on the side. Yum yum. Should have thought of that for tonight's dinner.

Found a great series of Thai curry pastes (Massaman, Panang, green, red) which are easy, quick and delicious. Tried the Panang over the weekend, just added 500ml of coconut cream, some onion and chicken and hey presto.......

And if I remember, I'll even post the details of said curry paste in this thread.....update coming soon...

I only cook so that the Spartan doesn't chew the leg off the Roman. I never cook for myself, never-ever. I'd rather buy a kebap or fast.

Pizzas are a doddle to make with the fresh bases available in all shops. Strain a tin of chopped tomatoes through a colander, put into a bowl, add a good squirt of puree toms and a glug of olive oil then spred this over the prepared base. Throw whatever you want on top. I really like tuna and black olive and capers, if I try to buy this combo ready made it inevitably comes with anchovies and they are the vilest foodstuff on the planet. Some mozarella and bobs your uncle.

Mmm tuna and capers, there is a match made in heaven. I am a pickled onion fan myself, and when I go the cheeseclub events its as much as I can do not to request a ploughman's lunch without the cheese or bread...

A tuna pasta sweetcorn bake is a good one since you can use tinned ingredients.

Boil some pasta and whilst doing it fry some onions and tinned tuna so it browns slightly.

When finished boiling drain pasta and chuck in tinned sweetcorn, the onion and tuna and stir in with greek yogurt. Whack it in a heat proof dish, grate some cheddar over the top and whack under the grill for 10 mins.

Total time 20 mins, a pretty good feed that i used to live on as a student.

I know this with mayo - make sure the onions are soft or use spring onions

Provided you can wait I actually find cooking a roast can be low effort, an added benefit is that you can shove it in the oven and clean the kitchen while it's cooking so nothing to clean up after.

Leg of lamb stuffed with garlic cloves wrapped in lemon and rosemary tastes great, I was making my own mint sauce before I imported some too. I've been big into yorkshire puds since I moved to Switzerland as well.
