I have been a long-time user of LinkedIn and Xing for my business contacts. I started hearing about MySpace and Facebook a few years ago but felt that I did not need another social network. But I kept receiving invitations to join FB and finally joined as a bit of an experiment to see how many of my business vs personal contacts would contact me on FB. I thought it would be weighted towards personal, and that FB was considered a bit 'lightweight' as a business tool.
Have to say that I was dead wrong, as almost all of my business contacts can be found on FB. It has become almost a de facto communications platform among tech entrepreneurs and investors. Additionally, David Kirkpatrick of Fortune Magazine is writing a book called The Facebook Effect...
